The Aussiedoodle

What is an Aussiedoodle?

An Aussiedoodle is a crossbreed between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, which combines both intelligence and trainability, as both are very intelligent breeds and love to be challenged. Australian Shepherds are an affectionate, social, and an energetic working dog. Poodles are known to be one of the smartest dogs, playful, hypo-allergenic and non-shedding, thus making the blending of both breeds a fun, trainable, sweet, and low to nonshedding dog.

What Do They Look Like?

At Bella Ridge, we breed to produce standard, medium and mini Aussiedoodles. Sizes will vary depending on the size of their parent breeds. Their coat, which needs regular brushing and grooming, can also vary from being curly, to wavy, or straight, and is generally of medium length. Aussiedoodles come in a variety of colors and shades of gray, black, brown and white. Most Aussiedoodles tend to shed very little if all. An F1B or higher generation is recommended for those with pet allergies.  Aussiedoodles are known for their unique eye colors and can have blue, green, or brown eyes, and/or a combination of any these.

Personality:

Aussiedoodles are very intelligent dogs with a gentle, loving, playful, and outgoing personality. Of course, each puppy is unique, but overall, they’re an active breed that do best in environments where there’s physical and mental stimulation within their day. Therefore, as important as walks are for the dog, they also enjoy something challenging i.e. playing catch, hide-and-seek, and agility. They thrive as a family companion, adore people, have a strong desire to please and be loved. They excel when given specific tasks and duties making them exceptional candidates for service dogs, as well as, family dogs.

Why a Family Dog?

One main reason why an Aussiedoodle makes such a great family dog, is their temperament. Both the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle are at the top of the list of dogs that are loyal, which means they love and protect their family members of all ages, but are not aggressive. It’s this loyalty coupled with their desire for intelligent interaction, that makes this breed a great family and companion dog. Other than the possible, occasional “herding,” the Aussiedoodle is very good with kids. In fact, many owners claim they’re the perfect pet for their kids; they’re gentle, loving, playful and very laid back.

 Amazing temperament + intelligent + low-non shedding coat + loyal + human focused + affectionate + playful = Aussiedoodle!
